Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI would go over the basics and fundamentals of catching. Ask players their preferred way to set up and adjust them accordingly if I think they’re struggling. First step of catching it being in an athletic position so that nothings get by you and you can be ready for any and every situation . I would go over primary and secondary stances ensuring that players are getting into an athletic position. I would go over stretches and workouts for players to do on the field as well as at home.
Lesson 2-3One players get their primary and secondary stances down I will begin to implement throw downs to second and third base making sure players are staying short when throwing and not getting too long. For lesson three I would go over blocking making sure players are still getting into and athletic position to get to wild pitch situations or just a ball in the dirt right in front of them
What you need to bringCatchers gear (if capable) and mitt. Typical baseball gear. Turf shoes are good
