Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWeeks 1-3: Ball-handling and passing Focus: Developing comfort with the ball and basic hand-offs. Drills: Stationary ball-handling: Dribbling with both hands, behind-the-back, and crossovers. Passing drills: push passes, bounce passes, and overhead passes with a partner. Dribbling while moving: Dribbling through cones, around partners, and around the court using various techniques. Game Application: Partner passing games, dribble relays.
Lesson 11+Weeks 10-12: Putting it all together Focus: Combining all skills in a game-like environment, emphasizing teamwork and game application. Drills: Full-court drills: Dribbling, passing, and finishing at the basket in a full-court setting. Situational plays: Setting up and running basic offensive and defensive plays. Game Application: 3-on-3 games: Focusing on applying skills with and without the ball. Full-court scrimmage: Playing a full game with an emphasis on the skills practiced throughout the 12 weeks.
