Beginner training plan
Your first lessonI approach the first lesson by assessing and meeting the players where they’re at based on their basketball movement, IQ, and overall skill level. I challenge them with a constraints led approach that allows them to learn, develop, and enhance the skills at their own pace while being pushed in a competitive environment.
Lesson 11+The remaining lessons will include a lot of differential learning, self organizing, game play, situational skills, small-sided games and competition. This chaotic environment allows players to work on skills that are very similar to an actual game, so they feel confident and comfortable with whatever they face.
Lesson 4-10Lessons 4-10 will be much less talking from me as an instructor and more emphasis on the players problem solving with each and on their own. I will instruct when necessary and needed, and to this point players will be challenged with different and engaging constraints that elevate their skills and overall athleticism.
Lesson 2-3For lessons 2-3, I begin to mix up the constraints and get players out of their comfort zone, helping them to embrace mistakes, and use them as lessons that will accelerate their skill level and self-organization skills.
