Youth players
Working with kidsWhen I work with kids, I know every player is different, so I adapt my lessons to meet them where they’re at. I start by seeing what they already know and what they need to work on. From there, I break skills down into simple steps, focusing on one or two things at a time so they don’t get overwhelmed.
I also make sure to mix fundamentals with fun — drills are always game-like or competitive so they stay engaged while learning. I pay attention to their confidence, energy, and motivation, adjusting the pace, difficulty, or type of drill depending on how they’re doing that day.
Finally, I give them clear, achievable goals for each session and homework they can practice at home. That way, every kid can see progress, feel good about their improvements, and stay excited to come back for the next session.
