Beginner training plan
Your first lessonIn a lesson with a beginner I want to understand them as a person. Flute won’t be played as much in this lesson unless request. I want to talk and get to know more about your reasoning behind wanting to learn the flute.
Lesson 11+The rest of the lessons will be used to build up to whatever goal the student is wanting to achieve. If it is to be a long term commitment then we will work on studying flute canonical works as well as more complex techniques. The most important part is we will never stop reviewing the foundations and basics.
Lesson 4-10These lessons will be spent reviewing what music the student wants to learn and begin working on that piece slowly. We will set up sections to have studied before the next lesson to allow learning to play it much easier.
Lesson 2-3These lessons be spent learning the basics and foundations of the instrument. These foundations will be reviewed every week to keep them fresh and ready to go as these are what create the best sounds out of our instruments.

Youth players
Working with kidsWith kids I will have a more fun approach, studying the basics of the flute slowly while also learning fun music that the student knows from movies or songs they have heard as they have grown up.

Working with teenagersI would allow the student to pick their music and as we learn that music we would learn a flute canonical piece to broaden their understanding of about what the flute can do while keeping it enjoyable. They would run how much work they want as long as they work hard to achieve what they set in front of them.

What you need to bringBring your flute, music you are interested in playing/working on, and a ready learn and work hard attitude

What I can bringI bring 9 years of playing the flute and know what it’s like just learning an instrument or starting to get better at it and have plenty of strategies to help you begin to improve faster!
