Beginner training plan

Your first lessonIn the first lesson, I focus on evaluating the player’s athleticism, body control, and familiarity with football fundamentals. We start with a dynamic warm-up and basic footwork drills. Then I introduce stance, catching mechanics, and hand-eye coordination exercises. The goal is to build comfort, establish trust, and keep things fun and positive. I explain how the sessions will work moving forward and emphasize progress over perfection.

Lesson 11+After 10+ lessons, beginners should look and feel more like athletes. Lessons now emphasize technique mastery, speed, decision-making, and performance under pressure. I implement more advanced route combos, quick reaction drills, and game-speed reps. Players begin to understand game scenarios, pre-snap reads, and adjustments. I also work on leadership, communication, and accountability — developing them into smart, coachable players ready for higher-level play or team tryouts.

Lesson 4-10By this stage, players develop consistency and can handle more challenging drills. I start teaching timing, sharper route breaks, release moves off the line, and catching in motion. We introduce defensive recognition (man vs. zone concepts) and ball security. Players work on reaction drills and light competition (1v1, mirror drills). Film review and game-like walkthroughs begin, helping build situational awareness. The focus is skill sharpening and building confidence through repetition and small wins.

Lesson 2-3Lessons 2 and 3 focus on reinforcing the basics and introducing movement with purpose. We continue to improve catching technique, stance, and footwork, while adding beginner-level route running (e.g., slant, out, go). I introduce light agility drills (ladder, cones) to build coordination. We also talk about football IQ — field awareness, position names, and simple terminology. Each drill ends with positive correction and praise.

How it works

Advanced training plan

Your first lessonIn the first session, I start with a focused assessment — evaluating mechanics, speed, route precision (or position-specific movement), and football IQ. After a dynamic warm-up, we go into drills that simulate game-speed situations to see where their strengths and weaknesses lie. I also ask about their goals (team tryouts, performance metrics, college interest, etc.) so we can create a personalized training plan. The first session ends with a feedback conversation and a roadmap moving forward.

Lesson 11+Lessons at this level are elite-focused. We work on complete polish: route deception, release packages, body control, field leverage, and advanced coverage manipulation. I hold players to college-level standards and focus on preparation for camps, tryouts, and real-game impact. Sessions become more player-led — less instruction, more execution. Video breakdown, football IQ tests, and advanced play concepts are common. The goal is to create a smart, explosive, reliable athlete.

Lesson 4-10This phase is about consistency, repetition under fatigue, and mastering situational play. We simulate game pressure with full-speed drills, defensive reads, scramble drills, and route adjustments. I push players physically and mentally, helping them stay sharp in high-stress environments. We introduce 1-on-1s, route trees with built-in reads, double moves, and defensive coverage breakdowns. By this stage, players are being coached like varsity/college athletes.

Lesson 2-3These sessions build intensity. We focus on refining mechanics — sharper breaks for receivers, cleaner transitions for DBs, quicker decision-making for QBs, etc. I emphasize precision, conditioning, and mental processing. Drills become more competitive and reaction-based. Film clips and situational walkthroughs begin to help build smarter, faster reactions. Expect corrections on fine details: foot placement, hand positioning, hip angles, eye discipline.

Youth players

Working with kidsWhen coaching kids, my priority is to create a positive, high-energy environment that builds a love for the game. I use age-appropriate drills that focus on basic coordination, catching, movement, and listening skills. Sessions are structured but playful — using fun competitions, games, and praise to keep them engaged. I break down instructions into simple steps, demonstrate everything visually, and focus on effort over perfection. My goal is to help kids build confidence, understand teamwork, and enjoy learning football fundamentals without pressure.

Working with teenagersWith teenagers, I shift the focus toward development, discipline, and accountability. I treat them like young athletes — helping them improve their technique, football IQ, and performance under pressure. Sessions are more intense and goal-driven, with individualized feedback, competitive drills, and real football concepts like coverages, route timing, or footwork breakdowns. I also mentor teens on mindset, preparation, and leadership — giving them tools to succeed both on and off the field. Whether they’re preparing for high school football, 7v7, or team tryouts, I make sure the training reflects their goals.
