Youth players
Working with kidsMy approach to teaching beginner youth players will focus on building confidence through constant encouragement and positive reinforcement. I understand that they are still developing both their skills and understanding of the game, so I’ll keep the lessons simple, engaging, and fun. I will prioritize basic skills like throwing, catching, and footwork, ensuring they have a solid foundation. As they progress, I will gradually introduce more advanced concepts such as alignment, assignment, situational awareness, and the fundamentals of offense and defense. I will use drills and games tailored to each player’s level, making sure that they remain engaged while reinforcing the skills and concepts they need to improve.
Working with teenagersFor teenage athletes and high school players, I adapt by introducing more complex concepts like offensive and defensive schemes, position-specific techniques, and game strategy. The focus shifts to refining individual skills, improving physical conditioning, and teaching them how to read the game. I emphasize mental toughness, teamwork, and leadership on and off the field, encouraging players to take ownership of their roles within the team. Feedback is more tailored and specific to their positions, and I challenge them with more competitive drills that simulate real-game situations, pushing them to elevate their performance.
