I like to start by getting a sense of your goals with golf as well as related athletic background/skills. Then it’s as simple as getting you set up, watching you hit a few balls, and seeing what we can do to build better or improve on your current habits. Lastly, I’ll offer a set of drills to help reach our goals and serve as “homework” on your own time.
Golf is an ongoing working progress. We will always discuss our improvements and areas for improvement. We can always hit the ball farther, straighter, more consistent, and shoot better scores! We will always pinpoint what needs to be done to address your priorities in those areas and make the game the most enjoyable it can be.
We will continue to build our foundation with the introductory drills (the basics go a long way no matter what level you are at). The initial swing keys from lesson 1, no matter how simple, are critical to becoming muscle memory. In addition, this is where we will start discussing and implementing more advanced topics that will help you take your new skills to the course, if that’s what your goal is!
Follow up on areas of improvement as well as challenges from the first lesson. We will see the progress the drills have made as well and keep engraining these improved patterns as well as making tweaks as necessary.

At this point, we’ve created a solid foundation of technical tools to help your swing “look good” and perform. You will certainly be able to see the fruits of your work on the range, on video, and on the course. The question is how can we do this more consistently, diagnose what may cause it to veer off, and most importantly get even better. We will continue to help you better understand your swing and tendencies, and then shift focus more on the performance side- which means how to get the most out of your score and practice with a purpose.
This will be a combination of measuring progress, performance testing (drills/games on trackman to help work on distance control, dispersion, etc.), and implementing any new drills we find fit to take your game to another level. Sometimes it’s as simple as revisiting what we worked on lesson 1 or sometimes it’s introducing a new layer, just depends on your tendencies and the most effective way to improve your scores.
We’ll discuss the progress in your ball striking and how’s it’s translated on the course. I will then have you start hitting balls and assess how you look compared to our first lesson (this is where video technology and trackman can be a useful tool to measure progress). We will further train drills from the first lesson as the foundation is critical before implementing too much. Lastly, we’ll construct game plan to build confidence taking this new/improved pattern to the golf course and help lower scores.
