Beginner training plan

Your first lessonGoal: Build comfort with the instrument and leave feeling accomplished. -Intro & gear check (tuning, strap height, how to hold the pick) -Learn the parts of the guitar and how to tune by ear and app -Finger warmups: simple exercises to start loosening up -First chords: E minor and A minor -One-chord rhythm exercise to a metronome or backing track

Lesson 11+Goal: Shift focus to musical identity and long-term growth. -Create a customized roadmap -Start mini-projects -Introduce barre chords or alternate tunings if relevant -Practice improvising over basic progressions -Explore effects pedals, tone shaping, and gear tips if desired -Optional: Record a practice video, jam with a loop pedal, or prep for a first performance

Lesson 4-10Goal: Solidify skills, build confidence, and start feeling musical. -Expand chord knowledge -Practice full chord transitions with smoother changes -Learn 2–3 more songs -Introduce power chords and palm muting -Begin light intro to scales or basic riffs -Use backing tracks or drum loops to work on rhythm and timing -Start playing short jam-style exercises or two-chord grooves -Talk tone and guitar settings, and how to get your sound dialed in

Lesson 2-3Goal: Develop control, rhythm, and a growing chord vocabulary. -Add 2–3 new open chords -Start switching between chords smoothly with slow strumming -Learn a simple song using those chords -Intro to rhythm and strumming patterns -Talk about how to build short, focused practice sessions at home

I’ve played everything from punk and post-hardcore to blues and ambient experimental, and I love tailoring lessons to what gets you excited to pick up the guitar. Whether you’re brand new or want to break out of a plateau, I focus on real-world playing, creativity, and building confidence — not just dry theory and drills.
