Beginner training plan
Your first lessonGoal: Build rapport, introduce the piano, and assess the student’s familiarity with music.
Approach: Start with a short chat to learn why they’re interested in piano. Then explain basic posture, finger numbers, and middle C. Introduce a simple exercise using just 2–3 notes.
Drills:
"Finding Middle C" – practice locating middle C with both hands.
"Finger Number Warm-up" – play fingers 1–5 on each hand slowly.
Lesson 11+Goal: Grow musical expression, technique, and independence.
Approach: Introduce phrasing, pedal use, and performance skills. Assign songs with simple left-hand patterns (like broken chords or alberti bass). Encourage regular home practice.
Drills:
"Sight-Reading Minute" – read a new short piece weekly.
"Expression Focus" – play a known piece using crescendos and phrasing.
