Beginner training plan
Your first lesson First lesson, we’ll begin with a quick warm-up/talk about the students goals, and then focus on posture and frame. The student will learn the basic step of their chosen dance style, and begin practicing it slowly without music before adding rhythm, we will work on technique and finish with a short cool-down and review. The student will be encouraged to practice the basic step at home until our next lesson.
Lesson 11+**Lesson 11 Overview** In Lesson 11, we’ll review everything learned so far, focusing on each dance style and the choreography the student has been working on. The student will go through each dance, practicing and refining the steps, turns, and technique, while paying attention to posture, rhythm, and fluidity. I’ll encourage the student to freestyle or come up with their own short choreography, allowing them to showcase their creativity and personal style. After the review, I’ll reward their hard work with a guest pass to my most upcoming class, as a thank you for their dedication and progress.
Lesson 4-10**Lessons 4-10 Dance Lesson Overview** In lessons 4-10, we’ll focus on refining the steps and techniques learned in previous lessons while gradually adding to the choreography. Each lesson will build upon the last, incorporating new steps, turns, or styling elements to enhance the choreography. We'll focus on perfecting posture, timing, and partner connection, emphasizing technique to ensure smooth movement and lead/follow dynamics. As the student becomes more comfortable with their current choreography, we’ll begin to introduce variations and additional elements to expand their repertoire. Towards the later lessons (7-10), we’ll introduce different dance styles , and adapt the choreography accordingly, helping the student transition between styles and refine their versatility as a dancer. The student will be encouraged to practice all choreography and techniques learned, preparing for a more polished performance by lesson 11.

Youth players
Working with kidsWhen working with kids, I adapt my lessons by keeping them engaging, fun, and interactive while maintaining a structured approach. I use games, visual cues, and playful activities to make learning enjoyable and accessible, which helps to hold their attention. I break down movements into smaller, manageable steps and ensure that each lesson includes a variety of activities to keep them excited and motivated.

Working with teenagersWhen teaching teenagers, I adapt my lessons to be more dynamic, interactive, and aligned with their interests. I understand that at this age, they seek autonomy and want to feel like they have a say in their learning, so I encourage them to share their goals and preferences for dance styles. This helps create a more personalized experience. I also use music they enjoy and relate to, making the learning process more engaging and relevant to their tastes. To keep them focused, I break down complex movements into smaller parts and provide clear, constructive feedback. I incorporate challenges that push their skills while allowing room for creative expression. Teenagers are also at a stage where they begin to connect dance to their identity, so I emphasize self-expression and creativity, encouraging them to experiment with their own style and incorporate it into routines.
