COACHING BUILT AROUND YOU
Sessions run 60–90 minutes and start with a conversation. What do you want to work on? Where are you stuck? What's the goal?
We'll assess your current game, athletic background, and learning style, then build a plan together.
First, we'll cover the fundamentals: rules, scoring, positioning, court awareness, grips, ready position, and basic stroke mechanics. You'll learn not just what to do, but why.
I'm an excellent diagnostician. Most beginners leave their first lesson with more than just a handful of new skills—they leave understanding the game in a way that accelerates future improvement.
BUILDING A FOUNDATION THAT LASTS
Now we'll refine your forehand and backhand, develop a reliable serve and return, and introduce movement patterns that make the game easier and more enjoyable.
We'll focus on:
* Consistency before power
* Court positioning
* Footwork fundamentals
* Transitioning safely to the kitchen line
* Beginning doubles strategy
You'll start feeling more comfortable in real games and less overwhelmed by the pace of play.
YOU’LL LEAVE SMARTER TOO, NOT JUST BETTER!
FROM PLAYER TO COMPETITOR
This is where the game gets fun.
We'll develop your dinks, volleys, resets, blocks, and directional control while introducing higher-level tactical concepts.
You'll learn:
* Shot selection
* Pattern recognition
* Doubles communication
* Offensive vs. defensive decision-making
* How to create pressure without taking unnecessary risks
Most players see dramatic improvements in confidence and consistency during this phase.
PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER
Through guided gameplay, situational drilling, and live coaching, we'll integrate everything you've learned.
We'll continue refining:
* Advanced shot placement
* Lobs, overheads, and spin
* Match strategy
* Mental toughness
* Competitive preparation
Whether your goal is league play, tournament play, or simply becoming the player everyone hates seeing across the net, we'll get you there.
YOUR FIRST LESSON
HIGH-LEVEL PLAYERS DON'T NEED MORE TIPS. THEY NEED BETTER ANSWERS.
If you're already a solid 3.5, 4.0, 4.5+, or tournament player, our first session is about identifying the bottlenecks holding your game back.
We'll evaluate:
* Technical efficiency
* Shot tolerance
* Transition game
* Kitchen-line effectiveness
* Decision-making patterns
* Partner dynamics
* Mental and competitive habits
Most advanced players don't have ten major problems.
They usually have one or two hidden leaks costing them dozens of points every match.
My job is to find them.
EVERY PLAYER HAS A GOAL WORTH CHASING.
My students range from 3.0 players discovering the sport to 4.5+ competitors chasing a rating or a tournament result.
Mostly women — but not exclusively. What everyone shares is a goal, even if they haven't fully defined it yet.
Sometimes the goal is simple: beat Suzy at league night.
Sometimes it's bigger: find your inner athlete, feel confident on court, connect to something that's genuinely yours. Often the goal evolves — students come in wanting one thing and discover something they didn't know they were looking for.
I'll meet you where you are and hold the highest vision for where you can go — while understanding that progress isn't always linear and some days are just harder than others.
PRECISION OVER REPETITION
At higher levels, improvement comes from eliminating inefficiencies.
We'll focus on:
* Resets under pressure
* Counterattacking
* Speed-up recognition
* Third-shot and fifth-shot decision trees
* Defending aggressive opponents
* Creating offensive opportunities without forcing them
You'll learn not just what works, but when, why, and against whom.
The goal isn't to play harder.
The goal is to play smarter.
YOU'LL LEAVE SMARTER, NOT JUST BETTER.
Students who work with me consistently report the same things: more confidence on court, smarter decision-making, and a higher pickleball IQ that doesn't disappear after the lesson ends.
That's because we work on understanding, not just repetition. When you know why something works, you can apply it in any situation — in a drill, in a match, under pressure.
You'll also have mental performance tools — real ones, not platitudes — that help you compete with composure and resilience when it matters most
BUILDING A COMPLETE COMPETITIVE GAME
This phase is highly individualized.
Depending on your goals, we may focus on:
* Tournament preparation
* DUPR improvement
* Singles strategy
* Women's doubles
* Mixed doubles
* Men's doubles
* Partner chemistry and communication
* Pattern-based play
* Shot disguise
* Court positioning and spacing
* Identifying opponent tendencies
We'll use targeted drills and live-play scenarios to sharpen the skills that matter most in competition.
SEPARATING GOOD PLAYERS FROM DANGEROUS ONES
At this level, small advantages compound quickly.
We'll work on:
* Match management
* Momentum control
* Pressure performance
* Strategic adjustments mid-match
* Advanced transitions
* Elite-level resets and counters
* Developing a personal playing identity
The goal isn't simply to hit better shots.
The goal is to become the player who consistently solves problems faster than the opponents standing across the net.
Whether you're chasing a rating, a medal, a league title, or simply trying to finally beat Suzy, we'll create a plan that gives you the best chance to get there.
One final suggestion: I'd strongly consider stealing one line from your profile and making it the opening sentence of the Advanced Plan:
"Most coaches give gene
