Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson is all about getting a sense of where the player is and where to go from there!
From here we will determine the best option based on schedule, practice needs, and price point.
Youth players
Working with kidsThis will be about opening the kids mind to the bigger picture of the game while also expanding their proficiency with a base set of ball skills and movement. All while building confidence and setting the stage for good habits both as a soccer player and overall athlete in a manner that involves all the fun and silliness that childhood can never have enough of!
Working with teenagersThis is where the field, rules, and physical aspects of the game ascend into chaos! Unless, of course, the player and their support system in both life and sports are able to keep perspective and pay attention to progress and challenges big and small.
First and foremost, forcing a player into a body type that is ‘textbook friendly’ or ‘prototypical’ is not going to be a part of what I coach or pursue. This is about what the player can do, and enjoying doing it. Change is inevitable, it’s up to us to adapt—not resist.
The rest will be about understanding and working to maximize the player’s vision of the field and space while improving the smaller aspects of ball skills and movement to optimize the use of space and decision making as team player.
