About your softball coach

I’m a D1 softball player at Santa Clara University, and I’ve been around the game pretty much my whole life. Pitching is what I love, but coaching is a close second. I’m big on keeping things simple, building confidence, and actually helping pitchers understand what they’re doing — not just going through the motions. Whether it’s mechanics, mental approach, or just learning how to compete, my goal is to help every pitcher improve and enjoy the process. And I really do care about the kids I coach

Beginner training plan
Your first lessonThe first lesson, I usually like to see where they are in pitching. I ask them to show me what it would look like if their coach told them they were pitching in the game and they needed to go warm up. Based on what I see, I make my adjustments and usually have them start with the drills I like if I see some issues with mechanics. I like to start with drills that just focus on arm circle before we move back and add legs because the circle is the most important part of the pitch.
Youth players
Working with kidsI go much slower and explain things in a way that they can understand, using analogies of things that are easier to picture for younger kids.
Working with teenagersI tend to go a bit faster with older kids because they are older and much stronger. I explain things to them more maturely because they tend to understand things a lot quicker than younger kids do.
What you need to bringPlease bring a glove, cleats, and someone to catch for you.
What I can bringI can bring balls and any other equipment I may feel we need to use to fix form, mechanics, etc.
