Jeff is incredibly patient and stays fully engaged throughout the lesson, which really helped me feel comfortable on the board. The pace was just right, and his encouragement made a big difference. If you’re thinking about trying surfing, I definitely recommend taking a lesson with Jeff for a fun and supportive experience.

Beginner training plan

Your first lessonWe will first have a casual conversation so I can get to know you and understand your comfort level with the ocean. This will include assessing your individual skill level and any previous surfing experience. From there we can go forward building on what you already know. Most importantly, we won’t rush you into anything you’re not comfortable with. We’ll start with basics on the sand, covering physical as well as mental parts of wave riding. From the sand we’ll move to the water when you’re ready. We will have as much fun as possible while elevating your skills and knowledge. I’ll send you home with some basic “dry land” exercises to help with muscle memory.

Lesson 2-3These will consist of some refreshers on the beach then spend most of the time in the water. Repetition is key in these earlier lessons. I will probably be pushing/helping you to catch white water or crumbling smaller waves as you improve your paddling and balancing. We’ll also cover your timing along with the overall judging of waves.

How it works

What you need to bringIf you have and want to bring your own board and wetsuit that’s great, same with sunscreen and water.

What I can bringI can bring a soft top board as well as others depending on your skill level. I also have some wetsuits. I can bring sunscreen and water if needed. I also have a California State parking pass if we choose one of those locations. I can also provide some shade as an option.

If you need to cancel your lesson, no worries! You can get a full refund if you cancel within 24 hours of making your booking. We want to make the process as hassle-free as possible for you.

And if you simply want to reschedule your lesson, change the date and time, or adjust the number of students joining, we've got you covered there too. You can easily make these changes within 24 hours of booking, and up to 72 hours before your lesson starts.
