Beginner training plan

Your first lessonWe start out with some warm-up exercises. Then we go through some common tennis terminology that’s important to know. Finally, I teach the basics of how to hold the racquet and swing. We’ll try hitting some balls for the rest of the time and adapt as needed.

How it works

Lesson 11+First up, warm-up! Then practicing the different types of swings by hitting balls, playing games, and perfecting your technique.

Lesson 4-10More warm-up exercises! Then more hitting, technique correction, and introduction to the different types of swings. Depending on how fast you progress, I’ll throw some games in to spice things up a bit.

Lesson 2-3We always start with warm-up exercises. Then I’ll ask questions to see what you remembered from the first lesson. Finally, the majority of the lesson will be spent hitting balls and perfecting your initial swinging technique.

Youth players

Working with kidsI have worked extensively with kids ages 3-10, so I know how to adapt to keep their attention, get them moving, and make tennis fun. I implement all sorts of games to make the lessons memorable for them, while also ensuring that we get some drills in there for proper form.

Working with teenagersI’ve assisted with coaching junior programs, and I once was a teen player myself! So I know exactly how to combine lessons on technique and fun games to ensure teenagers are progressing as quickly as possible while having fun and getting a workout.

What you need to bringStudents should come appropriately dressed for tennis, with workout clothes and sneakers. Bring water to stay hydrated!

What I can bringI will bring the necessary tennis balls. I do have one extra racquet for teenage and adult players, if needed.
