904.1 miles awayIt was a tennis play day at Westlake where I discovered my love for tennis at 9 years old. I continued taking lessons there until early high school, even through all the coaching changes. Having different coaches has allowed me to understand and master a multitude of different skills that have helped me succeed in the sport and in life. Itβs because of my connection to Westlake, that I wanted to return and give back to the very community that introduced me to the wonderful sport of tennis and saw me grow into the athlete I am today. I encourage Spanish-speaking or bicultural families to join our tennis community. I am neurodivergent friendly, as I promote an inclusive learning environment. I took group lessons at Westlake and it was here that I quickly moved up the ranks, being the only middle schooler in the advanced course. I won 4 district titles in middle school, and played varsity all 4 years of High School, staying in the top 4 on my school team. I was scouted by a D1 university during my freshman year and scouted by many D2 universities throughout high school. I volunteered to assist one of my former coaches at Westlake growing up. I helped with beginners and intermediate classes. I coached teammates all throughout high school, from which they made quick progress. I have experience teaching students of all ages, ranging from 5 to 81. I believe that in order for one to be more efficient, and fast on the court, one must master the basics of footwork and form. I will be prioritizing that at every skill level. Perfecting those basics is important to develop muscle memory and efficiency on the court. Focusing on strategy, mental and physical endurance, and stamina as those three factors are also crucial to competing in tournaments and matches. Those factors are important to establish discipline. Tennis is a beautiful sport of strategy, skill, stamina, endurance, strong minds, and discipline. All these factors can be applied to multiple facets of your life.
