Beginner training plan
Your first lesson• Start with introductions and break the ice.
• Explain basic tennis rules (court layout, scoring, how a point starts).
• Simple warm-up (light jogging + stretches).
• Teach proper grip (how to hold the racquet).
• Practice hitting the ball without the net (basic
groundstrokes).
• Goal: The student leaves understanding the basics and feeling confident.
Lesson 11+• Develop serve and return skills.
• Introduce strategy (when to attack, when to defend).
• Improve speed, accuracy, and control.
• Play full practice matches with official scoring.
• Goal: Student is ready to play a complete match at a beginner–intermediate level.
Lesson 4-10• Introduce volleys and serve basics.
• Improve consistency in groundstrokes.
• Work on rally patterns (cross-court, down-the-line).
• Play mini-games to apply skills in real situations.
• Goal: Student can rally comfortably and understand when to use each shot.
Lesson 2-3• Review grips and warm-up.
• Teach forehand and backhand more clearly.
• Introduce basic footwork drills.
• Short rally exercises (exchanging the ball back and forth at an easy pace).
• Goal: Student can rally 3–5 shots in a row.
Youth players
Working with kidsWhen I work with kids, I focus on keeping the lessons fun, engaging, and safe. I use games and simple drills to build coordination, footwork, and racquet control. I give lots of encouragement and positive feedback to keep them motivated. My goal is to help kids enjoy tennis while learning the basics step by step.
