Beginner training plan
Your first lessonWe start off using orange and red balls, doing a series of drills, not necessarily rallying until later on, to solidify technique. The most important aspect is the contact point and arm positioning upon contact. Forehand will be our main focus in addition to the corresponding footwork.
Lesson 11+We will keep transitioning into a larger court, and then once mastering the orange ball full court, we will use green, and later, a professional ball. We will continue to solidify technical aspects throughout this process, meanwhile integrating footwork and strengthening exercises.
Lesson 4-10We will move into a larger court, appropriate to the player’s level, and introduce ground strokes, highlighting the additional footwork needed in a larger court. After solidifying this, we will introduce volleys and serves.
Lesson 2-3We will solidify our rallying in the short court. Hopefully we will move away from red ball and start to transition into orange ball. We will learn the backhand and transition easily between forehands and backhands. Recovery and footwork will be another large component.
