How it works

Getting Started & Feeling the Game Goal: Get comfortable with the court, the racket, and basic movements. • Warm-up: light jogging, dynamic stretches, hand-eye coordination drills • Introduction to grips (continental, eastern) • Basic swing technique: forehand and backhand shadow swings • Rally with dropped balls (bounce-hit) • Mini-rally close to the net • Intro to court lines and basic rules • Fun game: “target practice” with cones

Lesson 11+Depending on the student’s goals, we can focus on preparing for: • Local tournaments or USTA leagues • Friendly matches • Doubles play development • Consistent weekly improvement and long-term fun

Lesson 4-10Gaining Confidence & Playing Points Goal: Start playing real points, improve consistency, and build court awareness. • Serve development: full motion serve practice • Introduce volleys and net play • Begin learning topspin and control • Rallying from the baseline with movement • Intro to strategy: cross-court vs. down-the-line, shot selection • Scoring and how to play a full game • Fun match play drills and mini tournaments • Mental tips: staying positive, managing nerve

Lesson 2-3Building the Basics Goal: Develop consistency and start rallying. • Review and reinforce forehand and backhand swings • Add footwork drills: split step, side shuffle • Learn how to rally from the service line • Begin working on timing and contact point • Intro to the serve (starting with underhand, moving to overhead) • Practice short rallies and basic point • Simple games to improve coordination and reactions

What you need to bringIf you have your own racket, feel free to bring it—but no worries if not, I’ve got you covered! Just come dressed in comfortable clothes, wear tennis shoes, and don’t forget a water bottle. Let’s have some fun on the court! 🎾

I recently earned my USTA Tennis Coach Certification, which reflects my commitment to providing high-quality, safe, and effective instruction.
