Step into a world rich with Cuban rhythm and New York flair with Liethis! Born in the vibrant Santiago de Cuba and later blossoming in the bustling streets of New York City, I started my dance journey at just 4 years old. With over 25 years in performing arts, my expertise is unparalleled. Today, I stand proudly as the first dancer, marketing maven, and artistic director assistant for Oyu Oro Afro-Cuban Experimental Dance Ensemble, NYC's premier Afro-Cuban Dance company, contributing passionately for over 15 years. Whether you're a beginner or a seasoned dancer, I'm here to guide and inspire. My mission is to share the deep roots of Afro-Cuban dance and its transformative power, weaving together my rich cultural heritage with the innovative beats of today. Let's dance, connect, and celebrate our shared human spirit!
I have performed as a concerto soloist with the Perrysburg Symphony Orchestra, and I graduated summa cum laude from the University of Michigan, where I studied with Amy Porter. I am a substitute flute/piccolo player for the Macomb Symphony Orchestra, Adrian Symphony Orchestra, Billings Symphony Orchestra, and Oakland Symphony Orchestra. I am the founder of a 501(c)3 non-profit entitled the Flute Pedagogy Project, which focuses on creating and distributing free and level-appropriate curriculum to beginner and intermediate flute players. From crafting lyrical melodies to mastering technical finesse, I have dedicated the last 3 years to guiding flutists of all levels. Together, we'll build the foundational music theory and flute skills you need to be a flexible and thoughtful flute player able to easily play with others.
"Thank you so much again for the opportunity to perform with you! It was so fun and I loved listening to the rest of your recital, you sounded incredible!
