When coaching kids in pickleball, I keep everything simple, visual, and game-based. I avoid long explanations and instead show them exactly what to do, then let them try it immediately. I use fun drills like: * “Hit the cone” target games * Mini rallies instead of full rules * Simple challenges like “3 in a row over the net” I also reduce complexity—short courts, slower balls if needed, and focusing only on a few key skills (like ready position, basic forehand, and just getting the ball over the net). Most importantly, I keep it fun and fast-moving. If they’re laughing and active, they’re learning.
