For kids, it is very important to choose equipment and surf conditions that are suitable not only for their age but their skill level and water competency. Just as important though, is making them feel secure and confident throughout the lesson. Therefore it is key that the parent or guardian work with me to tailor the lesson for their child(ren).

Simple instructions are the best ones for all ages but especially kids. I keep high energy and enthusiasm and make the ocean an inviting environment for the kids! Those who are reluctant to get in the water may start their lesson off with me doing some simple body surfing in the white water or just spend time in the shallows so they can acclimate to the ocean.
