I’ve been passionate about tennis for over 20 years, thanks to my father who introduced me to the game at a young age. I earned my coaching certification from The Professional Tennis Registry in 2021 and have since coached for Nike Tennis Camps, Smoke Rise Country Club, and offered private lessons. As a former Division II college player, I also volunteered at an afterschool program, where I had the chance to teach kids tennis alongside a local coach. This experience, along with four years of coaching at Reading & Requests, taught me the value of listening to students and using positive reinforcement to foster rapid improvement. My collegiate career with NC State and Morehouse College saw me achieve an unprecedented feat, marking an undefeated season and defeating the #1 player on the nation's top-ranked team. His talents extended to the ATP World Tour, where he secured world rankings in both singles and doubles, despite an abbreviated tour stint due to sponsorship challenges. Afterwards he transitioned to work alongside distinguished players in the WTA/ATP tours, including Heidi El Tabakh, Edina Gallovits, Donald Young, and more. My coaching prowess also shone as he trained junior world champions, including notable names like Emma Kurtz and Dillon Pottish. Currently, Erik is dedicated to running a junior program aimed at preparing young talents for college tennis and beyond.
