First Lesson: Introduction & Basic Skills
Goal: Get students comfortable with the game, rules, and basic movements.
1. Welcome & Warm-Up
Short intro to what pickleball is and basic court layout.
2. Paddle Grip & Ready Position
Eastern grip intro.
Demonstrate and practice ready position and footwork.
3. Basic Dinking
Introduce the dink shot and kitchen rules.
Practice dinking cross-court and straight on.
4. Serve & Return Basics
Demonstrate underhand serve (focus on control, not power).
Practice serves and returns with partner.
5. Mini Game or Controlled Rally
Short-court rally within the non-volley zone to practice control and consistency.
6. Wrap-Up & Homework
Review key points: grip, serve, dinks, and movement.
Encourage watching a pro match or practicing grip at home.
Lessons 4β10: Strategy, Movement & Match Play
Goal: Improve consistency, court coverage, and introduce strategy.
